Fanattic Sports Museum  (FSM) at Ecospace in Kolkata, presented jointly by sports historians Boria Majumdar and industrialist Harsh Neotia. Sporting exploits, achievements, records and memorabilia frozen in time and feted across the world are set to be showcased in the country’s first multi-sports museum. Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly were among others to inaugurate the museum.

Vishwanath Shetty sworn in as Karnataka Lokayukta

Former Karnataka High Court Judge Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty was on 28 January sworn in as the state’s new Lokayukta. The anti-corruption watch dog, by Governor Vajubhai R. Vala in Bengaluru. The post he remained vacant since. Y. Bhaskar Rao resigned in December 2015 following bribery scandal. Shetty’s appointment was cleared by governor.

AP Singh is interim  MD & CEO of Postal Bank

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) received the nod for the Reserve Bank of India to start its operations. The Govt has also appointed an interim CEO, who will help set up the entity. AP Singh is the interim managing director and CEO of IPPB, IPPB has become the third entity to receive a final license from the RBI, after Airtel and Paytm payment banks, IPPB operations are expected to start before March 31.

P.V. Sindhu wins Syed Modi International Badminton tournament

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu won the Syed Modi International Grand Prix Gold after beating Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska in the final on 29 January. The Rio Olympics silver medalist eased post her opponent in straight sets 21-12, 21-14. India’s Sameer Verma also won the tournament in men’s single category after defeating compatriot Sai Praneeth in straight sets 21-19, 21-16.

Miss France Iris Mittenaere Crowned Miss Universe 2016

Miss Universe 2016 Iris Myttenaere is the second crowned queen from France after 64 years. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach the French beauty at the Mall of Asia Arena in pasay city before 20,000 people all over the world. The 23 year old model Iris turned beauty queen is pursuing her Dental Surgery degree in the last five years. She had always been fond of extreme sports, travelling the world and cooking new French dishes.
