Shri Ananthkumar inaugurates CIPET: Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS) and lays Foundation Stone of new CIPET Building at Doiwala, Dehradun

Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Ananthkumar inaugurated the CIPET:  Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS) at ITI Building and laid the foundation stone of new Central Institute of Plastics Engineering &Technology (CIPET) Building at Doiwala, Dehradun today. Other dignitaries who graced the event as guests of honour included Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Member of Parliament, Haridwar, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. CIPET: CSTS, Dehradun is the 32nd CIPET centre in the country.

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana Top Rankers in Ease of Doing Business

Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, released the final rankings of States in Ease of Doing Business in New Delhi today. The top rankers are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana. Jharkhand and Gujarat stood fourth and fifth respectively.

DIPP, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the World Bank conducted an annual reform exercise for all States and UTs under the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP). The aim of this exercise is to improve delivery of various Central Government regulatory functions and services in an efficient, effective and transparent manner.

India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre Inaugurated

The India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre was inaugurated by the Minister of State (I/C) MSMEGiriraj Singh and Minister of SMEs and Start-ups of Republic of Korea, Hong Jong- haktoday in New Delhi.

 Speaking on this occasion,Giriraj Singh said that the purpose of the Technology Exchange Centre is to create a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises of India and Korea where they can be assisted to identify and exchange latest technologies, share management expertise, product development and technology applications for product development. The MSME Minister further said that the Technology Centre will also work towards building reliable alliances in Space, Solar Energy, Nano technologies and some other upcoming technologies.

Six vendors responded to supply 110 fighter aricrafts to India

Six global aircraft manufacturers have responded to a ‘Request for Information (RFI)’ from the Indian Air Force to supply 110 fighter aircraft, to replace MiG-21s and MiG-27s, which are being phased out of service. Six bids received are: ♦ Lockheed Martin F-16, ♦ SAAB Gripen, ♦ Boeing F-18, ♦ Dassault Rafale, ♦ Eurofighter Typhoon, ♦ United Aircraft Corporation MiG-35 . The first two are single-engine fighters, while the other 4 are twin-engine ones.

World Cities Summit 2018 held in Singapore

Supreme Court once again upheld Chief Justice of India as ‘Master of Roster

Supreme Court held that, Chief Justice of India is an individual judge and not the powerful collective of five senior-most judges of the SC called the ‘Collegium’. ► It is the exclusive authority to allocate cases to fellow judges as the ‘Master of Roster’. ► The declaration is based on a petition filed by the former Union Law Minister Shanti Bhushan to have a collegium of Supreme Court judges collectively allocate case rather than leave the entire power in the hands of the CJI in his administrative capacity as the ‘Master of Roster’. ► With this verdict, this is the third time in eight months the Supreme Court has declared its Chief Justice as the ‘Master of Roster’. ► Present Chief Justice of India – Dipak Misra (Since 28 August 2017)

Seven new wasp species discovered in the Amazon forests

From Peru, Venezuela and Colombia in the Amazon forests, 7 new wasp species of the genus Clistopyga were discovered. The new wasp species are: ♦ Clistopyga crassicaudata ♦ Clistopyga kalima ♦ Clistopyga panchei ♦ Clistopyga taironae ♦ Clistopyga nigriventri ♦ Clistopyga splendida ♦ Clistopyga isayae

To monitor India, China launched 2 Spy Satellites for Pakistan

The two Spy Satellites were launched on Chinese rocket Long March-2C from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. ♦ One of them – the PRSS-1 – is a remote sensing satellite built by China. ♦ The other – PakTES-1A – is Pakistan’s indigenously developed scientific experiment satellite. ♦ India is way ahead of Pakistan in space technology, with 43 operational satellites in space.

France become first finalists of 2018 FIFA World Cup

France defeated Belgium to reach the FIFA World Cup 2018 final for overall third time and the first time since 2006. Samuel Umtiti’s goal in the 51st minute, lifted France to the Final match. France will face either England or Croatia at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.
