Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Inaugurate the Fourth Container Terminal of JNPT in Mumbai

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Fourth Container Terminal (FCT) of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai  tomorrow. With this, JNPT will  nearly double its container handling capacity . The new FCT will add a capacity of 24 lakh containers per year in Phase-I and after completion of Phase-II in 2022, the capacity of JNPT will be 100 lakh containers per year.

The Fourth Container Terminal has been developed on Design, Built, Fund, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis for a concession period of 30 years at an estimated cost of Rs. 7915 Crore. The project is being implemented in two Phases. i.e. Phase –I and Phase –II. The indicative cost of the project for Phase – I is Rs 4719 Crore. The foundation stone for the project  was laid by  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi  in October 2015, and Phase I has been completed in record time.

 

India, Iran ink pact to avoid double taxation, prevent fiscal evasion

India and Iran today signed an agreement for Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with regard to taxes on income. The agreement is on similar lines as entered into by India with other countries, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement. “The agreement will stimulate flow of investment, technology and personnel from India to Iran and vice-versa, and will prevent double taxation.

 

West Bengal becomes 1st state to opt out of National Health Protection Scheme

The state of West Bengal  became the 1st one in India to opt out of the Union Government’s National Health Protection Scheme that was announced in Union Budget 2018-19.The announcement was made by the state’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who said that the state will not waste its hard earned resources to contribute its share to the programme.

Union Government Inks $100 Million Loan Agreement With NDB For Rajasthan Water Project

The union government has signed second Loan Agreement with New Development Bank (NDB) for the financing of Rajasthan Water Sector Restructuring Project for the Desert Areas.

This is the first tranche loan of $100 million was approved by the NDB under Multi-Tranche Financing Facility of $345 million for this project. The objective of the project is to rehabilitate 678 km long Indira Gandhi Nahar Project (IGNP) built during 1958-63 to prevent seepage.

 

Indias Biggest Global Pharma Conference Begins In Bengaluru

India’s biggest Global Conference on Pharma Industry and Medical Devices began in Bengaluru.  With the theme, ‘Driving NextGen Pharmaceuticals. Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers Ananth Kumar inaugurated the three-day event. The event is being organized by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, along with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

 

ONGC to introduce Asias first large scale CO2 injection technique at Gandhar field

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is planning to introduce carbon dioxide (CO2) injection technology in its Gandhar oil field in Gujarat. It will be first large-scale CO2-injected project in Asia. Its purpose is to recover extra 20 million barrels of crude oil under enhanced oil recovery. Gandhar located in Gujarat is one of ONGC’s major brownfields and was discovered in 1983. The field produces approximately 30,000 barrels of oil per day.
