Shillong (Meghalaya) gets selected as the 100th Smart City

Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya has been selected as 100th Smart City after evaluating the proposal submitted by it. Till now, 99 smart cities had been selected in four rounds of competition and with today’s announcement, selection of 100 cities has been completed under the Smart Cities Mission. Previously, 20 cities were selected in January 2016, 13 cities in May 2016, 27 cities in September 2016, 30 cities in June 2017 and 9 cities in January 2018.  With the selection of Shillong, the total proposed investment in the finally selected 100 cities under the Smart Cities Mission would be Rs.2,05,018 crores.Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya has been selected as 100th Smart City after evaluating the proposal submitted by it. KVIC adopts Jagatpur village in Delhi for Swachhata Abhiyaan

3 MoUs signed and 6 at an advanced stage under ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme

In response to certain reports appearing recently in the media regarding ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) pertaining to Red Fort being ‘put on hold’, the Ministry of Culture has clarified that ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme of the Government of India is making good progress. The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Survey of India. Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Shri Raghvendra Singh today said that under ‘Adopt a Heritage’ Scheme, three MoUs have already been signed and six are at an advanced stage and 31 more Adarsh Monuments are enlisted for coverage under the scheme. The Project aims to develop synergy among all partners to effectively promote “responsible tourism”

Shri J P Nadda Releases National Health Profile-2018

Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare released the National Health Profile (NHP)-2018 prepared by the Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI), here today. The E-book (digital version) of the annual document was also released. The National Health Profile covers demographic, socio-economic, health status and health finance indicators, along with comprehensive information on health infrastructure and human resources in health. At the function, Shri J P Nadda also launched the National Health Resource Repository (NHRR) – Country’s first ever national healthcare facility registry of authentic, standardized and updated geo-spatial data of all public and private healthcare establishments.

The Indian Institute of Technology – Banaras Hindu University -IIT-BHU and Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (AISPL) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop cloud-ready job skills by providing access to the AWS Educate program and to help establish a Cloud Research Lab on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).  The Cloud Research Lab will provide students with opportunities to use AWS Cloud technology to pursue research initiatives that focus on AI and ML innovation for India. The  MoU was signed in the presence of Union Human Resources Development Minister,  Shri Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi .

Government panel selects 22 general managers for Executive Director post at PSU Banks

The Banks Board Bureau (BBB) has recommended 22 candidates from different banks for the Executive Director (ED) positions in PSU Banks. The BBB panel has selected four general managers (GM) of Punjab National Bank and three from Vijaya Bank. Two general managers were selected from Bank of India, Union Bank of India and Canara Bank each but not from Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank and Indian bank. The four general managers from PNB includes Manas R Biswal, Gopal Gusain, Vivek Jha and Alok Shrivastava. The two GM from Union Bank of India are PR Rajagopal and Shenoy Vittal. The two GMs from Bank of India are Ajay Kumar Azad and Dinesh Kumar Garg and the two GMs from Canara Bank are Hemant Tamta and Ajit Kumar Das. The other members selected includes Sanjay Aggarwal and Shanti Lal Jain from Allahabad Bank; Vijay Dubey, A Manimekhalai and Ajay K Khurana from Vijaya Bank; Vikramaditya S Khichi and Usha Ravi from Dena Bank; Atul Kumar and K Srinivasa Rao from Syndicate Bank; Sanjay Kumar from United Bank of India; K Ramchandran from Corporation BankNSE -2.91 % and Ajay Vyas from Central Bank of India.

Railways to become Net Zero Carbon emitter by 2030, announced by Union Minister Piyush Goyal
