Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal launched four subsidized food canteens at Faridabad, Gurugram, Hisar and Yamunanagar under ‘Antyodaya Aahaar Yojana’ to provide healthy, nutritious and hygienic food at affordable prices of Rs 10 per meal to all poor and needy persons here today
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the food would be served to registered construction workers and all other poor and needy persons in these canteens between 11 am to 4 pmdaily. Each food packet weighing 730 grams containing 1150 calories will have four chapattis, rice, daal, cooked seasonal vegetables, curd or raita, green chutney and gur. Each food packet would cost Rs 20 out of which Rs 10 would be shared by Labour Department.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates UP Investors Summit In Lucknow
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 2-Day long UP Investors Summit in Lucknow. The mega event has been organized by the Uttar Pradesh government. It is aimed at showcasing investment opportunities and potential across various sectors in Uttar Pradesh. According to the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 900 MoUs have already been finalized ahead of the Summit. Representatives from Mauritius, Japan, the Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Thailand and Slovakia will also participate in the event. Uttar Pradesh government has formulated industrial policy to attract investment after reviewing policies of various states.
AAP To Launch ‘Mission Buniyaad’ To Fix Learning Crisis In Delhi Schools
The Delhi government on Monday announced the launch of “Mission Buniyaad” for improving learning skills of children studying in state and municipal-run schools.The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in New Delhi, days after the National Achievement Survey (NAS) showed that the entire country, including Delhi, was facing a learning crisis in schools.
Under the programme which will run from April to June for Class 3 to 5 in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools and for Class 6 to 8 in government’s schools, children will undergo a reading level assessment based on which they will be enrolled in specialised “Mission Buniyaad” classes.”For children who are not able to read, I request all parents to cancel their vacation plans during summer holidays and send their children to school for remedial classes. I appeal to parents of children to support the Delhi government and MCDs in this campaign in the interest of their children’s future,” Mr Sisodia said in a press conference.Officials of the education department will run the campaign in “mission mode” for three months from April to June this year, Mr Sisodia said.
Nasscom to set up CoE for Data Science, AI in Hyderabad
Nasscom is setting up a ₹40-crore Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in Hyderabad. The centre will initially be located at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-H) and later be housed at the upcoming Data Analytics Park in the city.
Nasscom pegs revenues from data science and AI (IT and non-IT industries) in the country at $16 billion by 2025, providing jobs to 1.50 lakh professionals.
Nasscom pegs growth rate for 2018-19 at 7-9%
Notwithstanding global headwinds and uncertainties, the National Association of Software and Solutions Companies (Nasscom) has projected a growth rate of 7-9 per cent for the IT and BPO industry in 2018-19 in the country as against 7.8 per cent in 2017-18.
The exports would be at $137 billion dollars in 2018-19 as against $126 billion dollars in 2017-18. The industry is expecting to add one lakh jobs in 2018-19. The overall IT-BPO industry size would be adding $14-16 billion.
Marlabs opens Kochi facility
Marlabs Inc, an IT consulting and services firm that specialises in providing 360-degree digital transformation frameworks, has announced the inauguration of its new facility in Kochi.
Spread across 12,000 sq ft, the facility will focus exclusively on IoT (internet of things) innovation and ML (machine learning) solutions.
BHEL bags order worth Rs 1,034 cr from HPCL
State-run power equipment maker BHEL has bagged a Rs 1,034-crore gas turbine-based captive power plant order from HPCL.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said in a regulatory filing today that it has “won a prestigious contract for setting up a gas turbine-based captive power plant on lumpsum turnkey (LSTK basis) under international competitive bidding (ICB)’’.
India and Indonesia Joint Military Drill ‘Garuda Shakti’ Begins
The Indian and Indonesian armies began the sixth edition of their annual military exercise named ‘Garuda Shakti’ in Bandung, Indonesia. It is a two-week long joint Military drill. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi will be visiting India for the first time tomorrow and will stay till February 23. In his two-day visit to India, Mr Khosrowshahi plans to to meet high-ranking Indian government officials, regulators, business partners and Uber employees. Mr Khosrowshahi is on his first visit to Asian countries after he took over as the chief executive officer last year.”
Internet now has 332.4 million domain names
Global leader in domain names and Internet security VeriSign on Wednesday announced that the fourth quarter of 2017 saw approximately 1.7 million domain name registrations. With this, the total number of domain name registrations reached approximately 332.4 million across all top-level domains (TLDs).
BSE to launch cross-currency derivatives
Leading stock exchange BSE today said it will launch cross-currency derivatives and cross INR options next week, a move that will help increase liquidity in the market. The announcement comes after the exchange received markets regulator Sebi’s approval for introducing cross-currency derivatives (future and options) on pairs such as Euro (EUR)-US Dollar (USD), Pound Sterling (GBP)-USD and USD-Japanese Yen (JPY). It has also obtained permission to introduce option on EUR-INR, GBP-INR and JPY-INR, in addition to existing USD-INR options.
Singapore To Impose Carbon Tax From 2019
Singapore will impose a ‘carbon tax’ from 2019 to cut its greenhouse gas emissions and make companies more competitive as global agreements on climate change take effect. Finance minister Heng Swee Keat stated that the tax would be levied on all facilities producing 25,000 tonnes or more of greenhouse gas emissions a year. The tax, to be applied to all sectors, will be Sg$5.0 ($3.8) per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions from 2019 to 2023.
