Agmark online system launched by Agriculture minister to conduct quality control functions

Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh launched online software for Agmark certification process. The process is being implemented by the Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (DMI). The online certification processes include: Certificate of authorisation (domestic), Permission of printing press, Permission of laboratories (domestic) and Services related to the laboratory information management system and Provisions for online receipt of fees from the applicants.

Four Northern states and 2 UTs to fix uniform tax rates on petroleum products

The states are Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and UTs of Delhi and Chandigarh. Further, a subcommittee would be instituted which would recommend with regard to uniformity in tax rates in the next fifteen days. Punjab is one of the highest rates of VAT on petrol in the country and it is second to Maharashtra.

Government sets up Ayush Information Cell in Romania

Centre may soon merge PNB, OBC, Andhra Bank

Govt increased customs duty on import of 19 items

Indo-Uzbekistan joint exhibition inaugurated at National Museum

An exhibition Titled “India – Uzbekistan: Dialogue of Cultures” dedicated to the upcoming state visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India was inaugurated at National Museum. This exhibition showcases original artifacts from the National Museum collection which include coins from the royal mints of Kushans including coins depicting portraits of Kanishka, Huvishka , alluring sculptures from the Kushan period, the intricate manuscripts including miniature paintings from Baburnama, manuscripts of the Holy Quran, Timurnamah, Bukharisharif, Bayaz, Tuzk-i-Jahangiri and others. The exhibition will be open for the public till October 24. 

Assam cabinet to launch the Universal Pension scheme on October 2

On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Assam state government will launch the Universal Pension scheme in the state. Under the scheme, the pension will be given to citizens over 60 years of age. The Cabinet also approved the Aniruddhadev Sports University Bill and the Inland Water Transport Authority Regulatory Bill. An amount of 50 lakh rupees has been sanctioned to filmmaker Rima Das whose movie Village Rockstar has been nominated for Oscars.

Abbott is to introduce high-sensitive troponin-I blood test in India

Abbott announced it is to introduce a high-sensitive troponin-I blood test in India. This test can predict chances of a heart attack or other cardiac event months to years in advance. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) cardiovascular diseases kill an estimated 17.7 million people globally. In that, nearly 7.4 million are due to coronary heart disease. The troponin-I test provides better predictive information for determining a person’s chances of developing future heart disease when added to the current standard of care. Troponin-I proteins are released from the heart and can be found at elevated levels in the blood when the heart muscle has been damaged due to lack of blood flow.

Sreeshankar sets national record in mens long jump

M.Sreeshankar, the 19-year-old, defeated Ankit Sharma’s National and meet record in the men’s long jump in the National Open athletics championships. He recorded a jump to break the meet record of 7.87m a by covering a distance of 8.11m. His previous best was 7.99m at the Federation Cup in March.

CREDAI to restore 10 waterbodies in Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), Chennai, has signed a MoU with Greater Chennai Corporation in order to restore 10 waterbodies in the city. This project costs around Rs.50 lakhs. CREDAI Chennai has picked up tanks in Ambattur (Arraa Kulam, Ayyankulam, Vairavan Kulam), Valasaravakkam (Mayttukuppam Ganga Nagar pond, Appaduraipillai street pond), Alandur (Aalavancherry kulam), Perungudi (Mandapamkuttai, Amara pond) and Sholinganallur (Thallikullam and Saraya Kulam).
