Shatrughan Sinha wins award in U.K
Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the fields of arts and politics, at a ceremony in the U.K.’s Parliament complex here.
The annual ‘Political and Public Life Awards’ are given by Britain’s Asian Voiceweekly newspaper.
American College signs MoU with St. Claire’s College in Canada
The American College here has entered into an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St. Claire’s College in Canada, which will enable the students of the college to study in the Canadian institution.
According to a statement issued by the college, the collaboration will be for two programmes of The American College – Business Administration and Computer System Programme – for which the curriculums are almost the same for similar programmes in St. Claire’s College.

Bangalore Gayana Samaja will confer the ‘Naada Shri’ title on renowned mridangam master T.A.S. Mani. The lifetime achievement award which carries a purse of Rs. 50,000 and a citation.
It will be presented to Mr. Mani on March 11 at the ‘Vaadya Vybhava Instrumental Festival’ to be held in Bengaluru.
RailYatri acquires Kochi-based start-up
Kochi-based food-delivery technology start-up YatraChef has been acquired by RailYatri.
The YatraChef team will now manage the pan-India supply side of Noida-based RailYatri, the country’s leading long-distance travel app, in transit delivery business.
Arun Rajan, Rameez Ashraf, and Suchithra Sumadevi launched YatraChef in October 2013, enabling commuters to order food through the website or with the help of the company’s multilingual call centre and chat support.
Rs. 228-crore projects for Alappuzha under AMRUT
Development projects worth Rs. 228 crore will be implemented under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) in Alappuzha municipality.
A drinking water project will be implemented at a cost of Rs. 128 crore.
Assam govt. extends AFSPA by six months
The Assam government on Saturday announced extension of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act by another six months in the Sate.
According to a statement, the Home and Political Department of Assam, through a notification issued on February 28, declared the entire State a “disturbed area” under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958.
Litterateur Prafulla Das passed away
Litterateur Prafulla Das passed away on Saturday at his residence at Rajkanika in Kendrapara district.
He was 91. Mr. Das was a bachelor and was suffering from old age related ailments. He was a recipient of the prestigious “Sarala Award” for his achievement in the literary field.
‘Banhimana’, the biography of freedom fighter Malati Chaudhury, brought him the Sarala Award in 2014.
