Rs. 361.97 crore sanctioned for buddhist circuits under Swadesh Darshan scheme: Sh. K. J. Alphons

Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned Rs.361.97 Crore under the ‘Swadesh Darshan’ scheme for development of Buddhist Circuit.

Regarding the air connectivity, the Ministry is regularly pursuing with Ministry of Civil Aviation to take up opening of under-served and unserved airports / airstrips under RCS UDAN Scheme.  Ministry of Tourism has also taken up the development of Buddhist Circuit under its Scheme ‘Swadesh Darshan’ wherein the last mile connectivity of tourist sites is also one of the components.

 

Shri RK Singh launches National E-Mobility Programme in India; congratulates EESL for installation of 50 lakh LED street lights

Shri R K Singh, Union Minister of State (IC) Power and New & Renewable Energy, launched the National E-Mobility Programme here, today. The Programme aims to provide an impetus to the entire e-mobility ecosystem including vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure companies, fleet operators, service providers, etc.

The Programme will be implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) which will aggregate demand by procuring electric vehicles in bulk to get economies of scale. These electric vehicles will replace the existing fleet of petrol and diesel vehicles. EESL had procured 10,000 e-vehicles last year and will issue a new tender very soon for 10,000 more e-vehicles to cater to the growing demand. With these 20,000 electric cars, India is expected to save over 5 crore litres of fuel every year leading to a reduction of over 5.6 lakh tonnes of annual CO2 emission.

 

Sukhad Yatra App and Toll-free Emergency number launched for highway users

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari has announced that soon there will be no human interface in granting driving licences to heavy vehicle drivers in the country. Launching the scheme for District Driving Training Centres in New Delhi today, he said, the process of approving such driving licenses will be made fully computerised. This will immensely reduce the instances of bogus driving licences, and will result in lesser number of accidents on the roads.

The Minister also launched a mobile App and Toll-free Emergency number for highway users together with Union Minister for Petroleum, Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.

Shri Gadkari said, the toll-free number – 1033, will enable users to report an emergency condition, or highway-related feedback, across the highway.

 

Cabinet approves an MoU between India and Hellenic on Renewable Energy Cooperation

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been apprised of  the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy between India and Hellenic.  The MoU was signed by the External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Government of India and H.E. Nikos Kotzias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic during the latter’s visit to New Delhi in November, 2017.

 

Cabinet approves MoU between UPSC and Public Service Commission of Mauritius

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Public Service Commission of Mauritius.

The MoU will strengthen the existing relationship between UPSC and Public Service Commission of Mauritius. It will facilitate sharing of experience and expertise of both the parties in the area of recruitment.

 

Cabinet approves the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2018

he Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2018 for introduction in the Parliament. It is a part of the efforts of the Government to encourage institutional arbitration for settlement of disputes and make India a centre of robust Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for signing of an Agreement between India and France to facilitate Mutual Recognition of educationalqualifications and periods of study undertaken by students in duly approved, recognized and/or accredited educational Institutions within the two countries.The Agreement is expected to be signed during the forthcoming State visit of the French President to India.

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved an Agreement between India and France on the Prevention of the Illicit Consumption and Reduction of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Chemical Precursors, and related offences.

 

The Agreement is aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation between the two countries in the prevention of the illicit consumption of, and reduction of illicit traffic, in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and chemical precursors and related offences through exchange of information, expertise and capacity building.

 

 

Cabinet approves signing of Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement between India and France

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the signing of Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement between India and France.  The Agreement is expected to be signed during the forthcoming State visit of the French President to India.

 

Cabinet approves promotion of agricultural mechanisation for in-situ management of crop residue in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and NCT of Delhi

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for in-situ Management of Crop Residue in the States of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and NCT of Delhi.

The total outgo from the Central funds would be Rs. 1151.80 crore (Rs. 591.65 crore in 2018-19 and Rs. 560.15 crore in 2019-20).

 

Tata Steel to acquire Bhushan Steel

Tata Steel has committed Rs. 45,400 crore for Bhushan Steel, far outbidding JSW Living’s offer of Rs. 28,000 crore for the stressed asset.

This is the first instance of the resolution of a stressed asset under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.

Tata Steel has offered to pay Bhushan Steel’s financial creditor Rs. 35,200 crore, while operational creditors would get Rs. 1,200 crore.

 

RBI slaps penalty on SBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday said it has imposed a penalty of Rs. 40 lakh on State Bank of India for non-compliance with directions issued by it on ‘Detection and impounding of counterfeit notes’.

 

Received SEBI nod as registered Investment Adviser: Paytm

Financial services platform Paytm on Wednesday said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Paytm Money, has received approval of market regulator SEBI to become a registered Investment Advisor.

The nod from the Securities and Exchange Board of India will allow the company to roll out investment and wealth management products to consumers across the country, Paytm said in a statement.
European development bank approves India’s membership

India is all set to become the 69th member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) after shareholders of the international financial institution gave their nod to the country’s candidature. The EBRD today announced that its shareholders have agreed to India becoming its member.

The move follows the Indian government’s application to seek the EBRD membership back in December 2017 and sets the stage for an increase in joint investment with Indian companies in the Bank’s regions of operation.
