Eid-ul-Fitr festival is celebrated on 25 May in India
Eid-ul-Fitr festival is celebrated on 25 May in India in the year 2020. The celebrations began on the evening of 24 May and will end on the evening of 25 May. The festival is celebrated by all Muslims across the world. They celebrate the festival by preparing feast and family gatherings.

 

International Missing Children’s Day is observed on 25 May
International Missing Children’s Day is an international day celebrated on May 25, the same day as the United States’ National Missing Children’s Day designated by Ronald Reagan in 1983. The first IMCD was observed in 2001 through the joint efforts of the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC), Missing Children Europe, and the European Commission.

 

Chhattisgarh to observe May 25 as Jhiram tribute day
The Chhattisgarh government will observe May 25 as ‘Jhiram Shraddhanjali Diwas’ to pay tribute to Congress leaders who were killed in a Maoist attack in Bastar district on this day in 2013 as well as other victims of Naxal violence. May 25 will be observed in the memory of senior Congress leaders and security personnel killed in Jhiram Valley Naxal attack on May 25, 2013.

 

MoRTH notified Emission norms for L7 category for BS-VI Vehicles
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued notification for the emission norms for the L7 (Quadricycle) category for BS-VI vehicles. It was notified on 22 May. The move will encourage automobile manufacturers to produce more petrol, diesel, CNG, and biofuel quadricycles for the Indian market.

 

NSO data says ESIC Social Security Scheme witnessed 8.21 lakh enrolments in 2020 March
The data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) in a report titled ‘Payroll Reporting in India: An Employment Perspective-March 2020′ stated that around 8.21 lakh new members joined the ESIC-run social security scheme in March 2020, against 11.83 lakh in February 2020. The NSO data included the payroll data of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

 

Canara Bank releases emergency credit facilities for MSMEs
Canara Bank has announced ‘CANARA CREDIT SUPPORT’ for all of their borrowers who have been affected by COVID-19. The Canara Credit Support is extended as a quick and hassle-free loan to overcome the temporary liquidity mismatches for payment of statutory dues, salary/wages/electricity bill, rent. The bank has sanctioned nearly 6 lakh loans amounting to Rs 4,300 crore under agriculture, SHGs and Retail categories

 

HIL INDIA to provide locust control Pesticide to Iran
Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers announced that HIL INDIA, a PSU under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, is to produce and supply the pesticides for the farming community, amid the COVID-19 lockdown. HIL is to supply 25 MT Malathion Technical for supply to locust control programme to Iran under Government to Government arrangement. Recently, the Credit rating of HIL INDIA was upgraded to BBB from BB.

 

Sports Authority Gujarat sign an MoU TCLL to train 2000 athletes
Sports Authority Gujarat signed an MoU with the Times Centre for Learning Limited (TCLL) to impart training for personality and skill development for aspiring athletes in the state. This will be the first-of-its-kind training in the State.

 

World Bank approves USD 500 million loan for Pakistan
The World Bank has restored Pakistan’s budgetary support after four years and approved a policy loan of USD 500 million to help the cash-strapped country mitigate adverse impact of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a media report. The World Bank’s board of executive directors approved a USD 500-million programme to help Pakistan improve access to quality healthcare and education, support economic opportunities for women and strengthen social safety nets as the country braces to limit the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic

 

ITC to acquire spice-maker Sunrise Foods
FMCG major ITC Ltd will acquire city-based packaged spice-maker Sunrise Foods for an undisclosed sum. The company has entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity share capital of Sunrise Foods Private Ltd (SFPL).

 

Indian economist Abhas Jha appointed to key World Bank position in South Asia
Abhas Jha, an Indian economist, has been appointed by theWorld Bank to a key position on climate change and disaster management in South Asia. Jha’s appointment comes at a time whenCyclone Amphan has badly hit West Bengal, Orissa in India and Bangladesh. His most recent assignment is Practice Manager forUrban Development and Disaster Risk Management in the East Asia and Pacific region. His area of jurisdiction includes India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Maldives.
