SSC Stenographer 2016: Staff Selection Commission has released the notification and application form. SSC Stenographer is all India Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade “C” (Group “B” Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade “D” (Group “C” Non-Gazetted). The total numbers of vacancies will be 60 in Stenographer (Grade-C) and 1034 in Stenographer (Grade-D). SSC stenographer 2016 recruitment shall be done on the basis of written exam and skill test. Only those candidates, who qualified in written exam, will be eligible for skill test and those candidates clear skill test will be appointed for stenographer post.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2016
Educational Qualification: Minimum 12th passed from a recognized board.
Age Limit: 18 to 27 years, age relaxation will be provided to the reserved category candidates.

SSC Stenographer Application Form 2016
SSC Stenographer application form 2016 will be released on 7 May 2016. Interested and eligible candidates can apply. Application form will be available online mode & offline mode. Online application form will be available at SSC official website and those candidates, who want to submit the offline application form; they can download and take a print out of the application form.
Application Fee / Mode of Payment (Online and Offline)
- Offline Payment: Candidates have to pay Rs.100 as application fee through CRF stamps which can be bought from the post office. Fee is exempted for all female candidates and reservation category. Application fee Stamps should be pasted on the application form in the space marked and get cancelled from the post office.
- Online Payment: Candidates have to pay fee of Rs. 100, candidates can pay application fee through e-challan at any SBI branch, net banking and any credit/debit cards. (SC/ ST/ Female / PH category aspirants no need to pay any fee).
SSC Stenographer Selection Procedure 2016
Selection process includes two steps:
- Written Examination: The Paper will have objective type questions.
- Skill Test: The candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for typing test.
In Case of Tie
In case where more than one candidate secures the equal aggregates marks, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:
- Marks in first part of the written examination.
- Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher.
- Alphabetical order in which first names of the candidates appear.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2016:
- The written examination will have objective type question.
- The questions will be set also in Hindi for only Part 1 & Part 2.
- There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

SSC Stenographer Exam Syllabus 2016:
Part 1: General Intelligence & Reasoning
It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
Part 2: General Awareness
Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
Part 3: English Language & Comprehension
In addition to the testing of candidates’ understanding of the English, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, would also be tested.
Skill Test
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will have to appear for the stenography test. Candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/Hindi with the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade “C” and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade “D”. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. The transcription time is as follows:
- For Stenographer Grade “D” – 50 minutes (English); 65 minutes (Hindi)
- For Stenographer Grade “C” – 40 minutes (English); 55 minutes (Hindi)
SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2016
SSC will issue admit card for stenographer to those candidates who applied before the closing date. Candidates can download their admit card from concerned regional SSC website. SSC will issue admit card to all candidate about two weeks before the examination. SSC will issue online admit card for those candidates who applied online and SSC will send admit card by post to those candidates who applied offline; however offline candidates can also download their admit card from the official regional website of SSC. If any candidate does not receive admit card one week before the examination, he/she must immediately contact the concerned regional/sub regional office of SSC.
SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2016
SSC will publish the answer key of Stenographer Exam 2016 on its official website. Commission will release the answer key for all sets. SSC Stenographer answer key 2016 will help candidates to analyse their performances in the exam. Commission will publish Stenographer answer key 2016 after the exam.
SSC Stenographer Cut Off 2016
The cut off is minimum marks which must be scored by the candidates in order to clear the exam. All candidates who score equal or more than the cut off can go further in selection process. The cut off will be set by the Commission. The cut off for Stenographer will be available on the commission’s website. SSC will publish cut off along with the result.
SSC Stenographer Result 2016
SSC will release Stenographer exam result on its official website, result will be in the “PDF” format in that PDF file candidates need to search their name and roll number. Stenographer exam result will be released in the month of August 2016. Only short-listed candidates will be called for skill test round. After skill test, final result will be released in the month of September 2016. After final result, candidates will be appointed for the Stenographer posts.
