Two day Regional Conference on “Urban Development: Technological Solutions and Governance Challenges” begins in Ahmedabad

The Ministry of Finance, Government of India in collaboration with the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Gujarat Council along with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), an autonomous research organization under the Ministry of External Affairs organised the 2-day Regional Conference on “Urban Development: Technological Solutions and Governance Challenges” which began in Ahmedabad today. The Conference is a lead-up event to the 3rd Annual Meeting of AIIB scheduled to be held on 25th and 26th June, 2018 in Mumbai.

 

Madhya Pradesh conferred Most Film Friendly Award, Uttarakhand conferred Special Mention Certificate for Film Friendly Environment

The Most Film Friendly State Award was announced today by the Chairman of the Jury, Shri Ramesh Sippy. The Most Film Friendly State Awards would be presented by Hon’ble President of India on May 3rd, 2018 during the presentation of the National Film Awards.

State of Madhya Pradesh was conferred the award for the Most Film Friendly State for its efforts towards easing filming in the State by creating a well-structured web site, film friendly infrastructure, offering incentives, maintaining databases, undertaking marketing and promotional initiatives, unanimously by the Jury from among the 16 States that participated. Madhya Pradesh also received positive feedback from established filmmakers who have shot there. The efforts taken by the State to present their case for the Awards were also appreciated. State of Uttarakhand is given a Special Mention Certificate to recognize the efforts made by the State of Uttarakhand towards creating a film friendly environment.

 

First Ever International SME Convention-2018 in New Delhi

One hundred and fifty participants from 31 countries and 400 entrepreneurs from India will participate in the four day International SME convention being held in New Delhi from 22ndto 24th April. The Ministry of MSME has engaged with over 35 International Trade Development organisations to attract and invite able and willing entrepreneurs and encourage people to people contact with select Indian Entrepreneurs from key sectors of the International counterparts. The convention has specific focus on inclusion of MSMEs in the Make in India program & empowering women entrepreneurs.

 

Aditi Rao Hydari To Receive Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award For Bhoomi

Aditi Rao Hydari will receive Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for the Best Leading Lady (Critics Award) for her memorable performance in Bhoomi. The award ceremony will be held in Mumbai. It will be attended by producers, directors, distributors, and exhibitors among others from the film fraternity.

 

Venkaiah Naidu Launches Assam Govts Cashless Health Scheme

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu launched a health scheme of the Assam government named Atal Amrit Abhiyan that offers free medical care of up to 2 lakh rupees for every individual from Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL) families. The state government has earmarked 400 crore rupees for the scheme in the financial year 2018-19. The cashless scheme Atal Amrit Abhiyan will cover 92 percent of the state’s population with annual income below 5 lakh rupees.

 

Commerce Ministry Launches Digital Platform For MSME Exporters

Commerce and Industry Minister launched the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) GlobalLinker platform for MSME exporters in New Delhi. This move is aimed at assisting the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in exports. This initiative will help in expanding India’s multi-focused export strategy and also aid in connecting art and artisans to the market. FIEO GlobalLinker is setup with a view to making the business growth of SMEs simpler, more profitable and enjoyable.

 

Odisha’s second longest River Bridge Opened

The much-awaited bridge ‘Ib Setu’ built over the Ib river in Sambalpur district was thrown open to the public by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The 2.5-km-long bridge, which is the State’s second longest bridge, has been built in three years at a cost of Rs. 117.50 crore. The bridge has helped establish direct road connectivity between Sambalpur and Brajarajnagar and the distance has now been reduced by 50 km.

 

Amazon to take on Google with mobile browser ‘Internet’

Online retail giant Amazon has launched an Android-based mobile browser in India with limited availability in an apparent bid to take on Google in the Internet game.

The new product ‘Internet’ is a 2MB browser that currently works only on limited Android devices. On Android Playstore, the app had only 100+ downloads at the time of writing this article, which indicates that Amazon is still testing it with limited number of users.

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has ordered the start of corporate insolvency resolution process on the company based on a petition brought by DBM Geotechnics and Constructions Pvt Ltd, an operational creditor.
