Indo-Russian Air Force exercise Aviaindra-18 commences at Lipetsk
Bi-annual Exercise Aviaindra 18 is being conducted at Lipetsk, Russia from 17 Sep to 28 Sep 18 and the second session will be conducted in Jodhpur, India from 10 Dec to 22 Dec 18. The aircraft that would participate in the exercise include Su-30 SM, Mig-29, Su-25, Mi-8, and An-26. First Aviaindra was conducted in 2014.
ESIC approves new scheme, Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna
The Employee’s State Insurance (ESI) has approved a scheme named ‘Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna’ for unemployed Insured Persons (IP) covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948. This scheme is a relief payable in cash directly to their Bank Account in case of unemployment and while they search for new engagement. Further, ESIC approved the proposal to increase the funeral expenses from existing Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 being paid on the death of Insured Person.
Indian Railways increases price of tea and coffee on trains, stations
The price of a 150 ml cup of tea with teabag and a 150 ml cup of coffee on trains has been increased to ₹10 from ₹7. Standard readymade tea will be served at ₹5 per cup. Whereas, tea in pots (285 ml) and coffee in pots (285 ml) priced at Rs 10 and Rs 15, respectively have been discontinued.
BPCL awaits for Centre’s approval for its expansion
State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is waiting for the Center’s approval for the threefold expansion of Numaligarh refinery in the northeast. It is to expand its refinery from 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 9 mtpa. The project costs around Rs.22,000 crore. With this refinery expansion, the BPCL has plans to export products to Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar. In Numaligarh refinery, the petroleum product pipeline is to be laid for 135-km from its terminal at Siliguri in West Bengal to Parbatipur in Bangladesh. The company has also planned to procure crude from Paradip in Odisha, where IOCL has a refinery.
RBI trims Rana Kapoor’s term as Yes Bank CEO
Reserve Bank of India intimated that Rana Kapoor may continue as the MD and CEO till January 31, 2019. Kapoor, who has been managing director and CEO since the bank’s inception in 2004, had sought a three-year extension till August 31, 2021. Kapoor was part of the founding team of Yes Bank, along with Ashok Kapur who died in 2008.
Creamline Dairy Products Ltd. is to launch its new plant in Visakhapatnam
Creamline Dairy Products Ltd. (CDPL), a subsidiary of Godrej Agrovet Ltd., is planning to invest Rs.80 crore on various initiatives. CDPL is to invest about Rs.35 crore in setting up the new dairy plant in Visakhapatnam and Rs.35 crore on developing value-added products and the remaining amount for improving and scaling up capacity. CDPL-owned Jersey brand of milk products CDPL has nine operating plants in southern states and Maharashtra with a capacity of 12 lakh litres per day.
Presidents of N.Korea and S.Korea together visited sacred mountain in show of unity
Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, and Moon Jae-in, the South Korean President, visited the spiritual birthplace of the Korean nation. This is to show of their unity after their North-South summit gave new momentum to Pyongyang’s negotiations with Washington. Earlier, the North Korean leader agreed to shutter the Tongchang-ri missile-testing site in the presence of international observers. This move was welcomed by the U.S. welcomed by saying it was ready for immediate talks aimed at denuclearizing the North. Mr.Kim is hoping for the second summit with the President of U.S, Mr.Trump.

Anshu Malik won bronze at the junior World wrestling championship in Trnava, Slovakia. She beat Russia’s Alina Kazymova by 11-5. Anshu lost her semifinal to Sae Nanjo of Japan. In the 57kg category, Mansi is to fight for a bronze in the cham.
Richa Mishra set record in womens 400m swimming
Richa Mishra, 36-year-old, became the best Indian performance in the women’s 400m Individual Medley on the second day of the Glenmark 72nd National swimming championship at the Dr.B.R.Ambedkar international aquatic complex in Trivandrum, Kerala. Mishra clocked 4:59.17 and became the first Indian woman to breach the five-minute mark. She had previously held the best Indian time of 5:01.08 (set in 2007) and also the meet record (5:02.96, 2009).
