Prasar Bharati hosts International Television Dance Festival

The first edition of ABU International Television Dance Festival (AIDF) is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad the city with royal patronage for arts, literature and architecture, on 15 January 2017. Prasar Bharati India’s Public Service Broadcaster has the honour of hosting the first edition of this mega event.  (ABU= Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union)


BSF launches operation Sard Hawa at Rajasthan Border

To keep vigil on instances of infiltration due to dense fog in the western international border of Rajasthan, BSF on 15th January 2017 launched Sard Hawa, an operation. The operation will continue till January 28. The purpose of the operation is to  keep a hawk’s eye on the international border, where vigil has been beefed-up and officers have also been asked to be part of operation to motivate jawans.


India slips to 92nd rank on global talent competitiveness Index

Last year, India came in at the 89th position on the index. India has slipped 3 places to 92nd rank on the Global index of talent competitiveness that measures how countries grow, attract and retain talent, a list topped Switzerland. India’s ranking is worst among the five BRICS countries. While Brazil 81st, Russia Federation was 56th, China was 54th, South Africa at 67th position


RBI raises ATM withdrawal Limit to Rs.10,000

In a Major relief, the Reserve Bank today (16 January 2017) more than doubled the daily ATM withdrawal limit to Rs.10,000 but retained the weekly ceiling at Rs.24,000. The RBI however doubled the weekly withdrawal limit from current accounts to Rs. 1 lakh from Rs. 50,000 a move which will ease the cash position of small traders.

SC Allows 24 – week pregnant Woman To Abort

The Supreme Court (SC) on 16th January 2017 allowed pregnancy in view of fetal abnormalities and the anticipated risks for health. A bench headed by justice J.S. Khehar granted the woman liberty to undergo an abortion. While taking note of the findings of a medical report which it had sought.


TN Govt launched mobile app “Pinakini” for Tourism

For the benefit of both domestic and international tourists, Tamil Nadu Tourism Department has launched a mobile app “Pinakini” with information on tourism in Tamil Nadu with audio facilities. The app in two languages Tamil and English which covers world heritage tourist sites like Mamallapuram,Thanjavur Big Temple, Gangaikondacholapuram and Darasuram.


APP named “SEZ India” launched by Commerce Ministry

A mobile app named “SEZ India” has been launched by the Commerce Secretary. SEZ Division, Department of Commerce under its broader e-Governance initiative i.e. SEZ online system, has developed mobile app for special Economic Zones (SEZs). SEZ Units and Developers to find information easily and track their transactions on online system
