Jharkhand announced to be the partner state in Goa International Film Festival 2018 which will be held on 20th to 28th of November, 2018. The decision was taken in meeting between Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Amit Khare and Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, Sudhir Tripathy at Ranchi.
Researchers developed bio electronic medicine that helps nerve growth
Researchers at the Washington University in the U.S. have developed the first bioelectronic medicine, an implantable, biodegradable wireless device. This device speeds nerve regeneration and improves the healing of a damaged nerve. The scientists developed a device that delivers regular pulses of electricity to damaged peripheral nerves in rats after a surgical repair process, accelerating the regrowth of nerves in their legs. About the size of a small coin, the wireless device operates for two weeks before getting absorbed into the body.
IMF estimates growth rate of India as 7.3 percent this year
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) said that India has been estimated to grow at 7.3% in 2018 and 7.4% in 2019. This is to regain the tag of the world’s fastest-growing major economy 2018, surpassing China with more than 0.7% points. In 2017, India had clocked a 6.7% growth rate. In India, important reforms like the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the inflation-targeting framework, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, and steps to liberalise foreign investment and make it easier to do business have been implemented in the recent years. China was the fastest-growing economy in 2017. The IMF has lowered the growth projections for both India and China by 0.4% and 0.32%, respectively, from its annual April’s WEO.

ED sends orders to Switzerland in Nirav Modi scam
The Enforcement Directorate is to send a judicial request to Switzerland seeking confirmation of attachment of assets in connection with the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case against diamond merchant Nirav Modi and others. It issued orders under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The agency zeroed in on the properties while probing the financial trail pertaining to three companies allegedly linked to them. The agency had recently provisionally attached four luxury flats, including two in the United States and one in the United Kingdom, and jewellery and bank accounts worth Rs. 637 crore in the case. The total value of attachments so far in the cases against Nirav Modi and others is pegged around Rs.4,300 crore.

The Sovereign Gold Bonds will be issued every month from October to February 2019. The 2018-19 Series II tranche will be issued on 23rd of October and the period of submission is 15th to 19th of October.
China to sell 48 high end armed drones to Pakistan
China is to sell 48 high-end armed drones to Pakistan. This will be the largest deal of its kind. The cost of the major defence deal hasn’t been revealed yet. Wing Loong II is a high-end reconnaissance, strike and multi-role endurance unmanned aerial system, capable of being fitted with air-to-surface weapons. This type of drone is roughly equivalent to the American MQ-9 Reaper drone. The drones will also be jointly manufactured by China and Pakistan. Last year, China reportedly sold to countries like the UAE and Egypt the Wing Loong II at an estimated $1 million per unit. Till now China is the largest weapon supplier to its all-weather ally Pakistan Army. Both countries also jointly manufacture JF-Thunder a single engine multi-role combat aircraft.
Zalmay Khalilzad visits Pakistan to hold talks with Foreign Secretary
Zalmay Khalilzad, Washington’s newly named point man, is visiting Pakistan to seek for a peaceful end to Afghanistan’s 17-year war. He met Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua. He asked Pakistan’s new government in Islamabad to bring Taliban to the negotiating table. His tour of the region will also include West Asian stops in the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In Afghanistan, he met with President Ashraf Ghani. Washington and Kabul have both repeatedly accused Pakistan of providing safe havens for Taliban insurgents. Pakistan denied the claim and countered with charges that its own insurgents have found sanctuary in Afghanistan.

Google To Shut Down Google+ For Consumers Over The Security Lapse
After a bug exposed the personal data of up to 5 lakh users, Google stated that it discovered and immediately patched” the bug in March 2018 but found “no evidence” that any data was actually misused. Google company reportedly disclose the security breach because it feared regulation. According to Google, Google+ currently has “low usage and engagement” and that 90 percent of Google+ user sessions last less than 5 seconds.
