National Crime Records Bureau launches Citizen Service Mobile App

National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) today launched a “Citizen Service” mobile App which has a bouquet of various essential police related services to the citizen.  On the occasion of its 33rdInception Day, the Chief Guest, Director, Intelligence Bureau, Shri Rajiv Jain applauded the use of information technology  by police forces for data collecting and analysis for better delivery of citizen friendly services by  law enforcing agencies.

 

India Won “Best Exhibitor Award” at ITB – Berlin

India has won the “Best Exhibitor Award ” at ITB – Berlin on its last day. ‘ITB- Berlin World Tourist Meet’ was convened at Berlin, Germany from 7th March to 10th March, 2018.

India was represented by the Minister of State (Independent charge) for Tourism Mr K. J. Alphons along with couple of Tourism Ministry officials.

More than 100 countries participated in the ITB- Berlin meet with their respective Tourism Ministers.

India’s Incredible India (Ministry of Tourism) presented a short film named “Yogi of the Racetrack ” in the meet. The said short film has got 3.2 million hits in 60 hours.

 

Milk production up 20% in 2014-2017

Milk production in the country increased by 20 per cent from 137.7 million tonnes to 165.4 million tonnes between 2014 and 2017, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Radha Mohan Singh has said.

Also, the per capita availability of milk has risen by 15.6 per cent from 307 gms a day to 355 gms per day between 2013-14 and 2016-17, an official statement quoted the minister as saying.

 

SpiceJet inks $12.5 bn deal with Safran for aircraft engines

SpiceJet today inked $ 12.5 billion deal with French major Safran Group for CFM aircraft engines.

At current exchange rate, the deal is worth more than Rs 81,000 crore and is one of the biggest in the aviation sector.

SpiceJet and Safran Group, have now finalised the purchase of LEAP-1B engines to power a total of 155 Boeing 737 MAX planes, along with spare engines to support the fleet, according to a release.

 

Dilip Buildcon bags Rs 770-cr road project from NHAI

Highway developer Dilip Buildcon (DBL) today said it has bagged a road project worth Rs 770.04 crore in Uttar Pradesh from NHAI. “The company has been declared L-1 bidder by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a new engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project in Uttar Pradesh,” Dilip Buildcon said in a BSE filing.

 

Solar Summit Begins In Delhi

As the first International Solar Alliance (ISA) Summit, co-hosted by India and France, at Rashtrapati Bhavan kicks off today, it not only brings spotlight on India as a key player in harnessing solar energy, it is also being seen as a huge diplomatic victory for the country. The alliance, which aims at promoting solar energy and reduction in the use of fossil fuels in energy-rich countries, was launched in November 2015 at the Paris climate summit by PM Modi and former French President Francois Hollande.The summit will focus on various aspects of promoting solar energy, such as credit mechanism, crowd funding and sharing of technological breakthroughs, in 121 countries associated with ISA.

 

Karnataka unveils new state flag pending Centre’s approval

The Karnataka government  unveiled a new state flag, bearing the state emblem and colours, in line with chief minister Siddaramaiah’s platform of Kannada pride and pro-Kannada activism. Ahead of the flag unveiling, Siddaramaiah met flag committee members, over 50 writers, experts and representatives of pro-Kannada activist groups.

First state after J&K to propose separate flag

 The new flag, Nada Dhwaja in Kannada, is yellow, white and red in colour with the state emblem ‘Ganda Bherunda’ in the centre. It has already been approved by the state cabinet and will be sent to the Union home ministry for the Centre’s approval, the chief minister’s office reported. If approved, Karnataka will become the second Indian state to have a separate flag, after Jammu and Kashmir.
Passport mandatory for loans above Rs 50 crore, says Finance Ministry

The government is coming out with a new rule in an apparent move against economic offenders attempting to flee India.

The government today announced that banks will have to collect passport details of customers who seek loans above Rs 50 crore.

The decision comes in the aftermath of the recent multi-crore Punjab National Bank fraud that rocked the banking system.

The Finance Ministry is making the submission of passport details mandatory for taking loans of amounts more than Rs 50 crore. Customers will have to submit the details along with copies of the passport within 45 days.
