India Signs Loan agreement with World Bank for usd 48 million for Meghalaya Community
A Loan Agreement for IBRD loan of USD 48 million for the “Meghalaya Community – Led Landscapes Management Project (MCLLMP)” was signed here today with the World Bank. The Loan Agreement was signed by Mr. Sameer Kumar Khare, Joint Secretary (MI), Department of Economic Affairs on behalf of the Government of India and Mr. Hisham A Abdo Kahin, Acting Country Director, World Bank (India) on behalf of the World Bank. A Project Agreement was also signed by Mr. P. Sampath Kumar, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya & CEO, Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) and Mr. Hisham A Abdo Kahin, Acting Country Director, World Bank (India).
Govt raises Nabard’s authorised capital to Rs 300 bn to aid rural economy
As part of the drive to double income of farmers by 2022, the government has raised the authorised capital of Nabard by six times to Rs 300 billion to help it increase its lending to the rural economy.
“… the central government hereby increases the capital of the National Bank for Agriculture and RuralDevelopment from Rs 50 billion to Rs 30 billion,” said a April 10 notification of the finance ministry.A bill in this regard was approved by Parliament earlier this year.
Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting Begins In London
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2018) begun in London, the UK. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the event on 19th and 20th of April. The theme of the summit is ‘Towards a Common Future’. The biennial event has brought together delegates from 53 Commonwealth nations. The summit will focus on addressing common challenges across the Commonwealth for a more prosperous, secure and sustainable future.
Himachal marks 71st foundation day, awards best performers
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday hoisted the Indian national at the Ridge Maidan here to mark the state’s 71st foundation day.
On the occasion, personnel of state police, home guards, Services Selection Board (SSB) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets took out a parade. Traditional folk dances by various groups also dotted the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the chief minister talked about women security and recalled various services that have been launched for their protection.
Reliance Jio raises Rs 3250 crore from Japanese banks to fund capital expenditure
Reliance Jio has signed an agreement to raise nearly Rs 3,250 crore as samurai term loan from Japan-based banks.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited said that, it had signed approximately JPY 53.5 billion samurai term loan with 7 year bullet maturity.
UN launches road safety trust fund USD 51000
United Nations (UN) has launched a UN Road Safety Trust Fund to spur action that could save lives and prevent the loss of opportunity associated with road accidents.The fund has been launched in wake of tragic road accidents in Canada and India. As per data provided by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, around 1.3 million drivers, passengers and pedestrians die each year, and up to 50 million are injured on the world’s roads.
