IWAI Turns Aggregator for Cargo Owners and Shippers; Launches Dedicated Portal
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) yesterday launched a dedicated portal to connect cargo owners and shippers with real time data on availability of vessels. The landmark e-connect measure will enable direct interaction among the vessel operators, shippers and cargo owners as currently, there is no platform to know the availability of vessels in the market. It has been designed and developed by the in-house IT Department and the Traffic Wing of IWAI as part of its preparedness for optimal use of its ongoing capacity development on various National Waterways.

Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports are celebrating Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st to 15th August, 2018 under the Swachh Bharat Mission Programme of Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation. On this occasion, Department of Sports has taken two major initiatives.
First initiative will be for making all five SAI Stadia namely Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range and Dr. SPM Swimming Pool Complex as “Plastic Free Zone”. This initiative will start on the 1st August, 2018 and by the 2nd October, 2018, these five Stadia will strengthen its internal organizational set up like availability of drinking water facilities at appropriate place, alternative to disposable plastic materials, suitable arrangements of waste disposal, proper sensitization of user and staff of the Stadia, etc. towards implementation of plastic free zone.

National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC), organised an Awareness-cum-Health Camp for Safai Karamcharis of NDMC today in the Convention Centre, NDMC, Palika Kendra, Sansad Marg, New Delhi. Shri Ramdas Athawale Minister for State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was the Chief Guest for occasion. The Commission led by its Chairman Shri Manhar Valji Bhai Zala, Chairman and Shri Dilip K. Hathibed, Shri Jagdish Hiremani and Smt. Manju Diler, Members of the Commission attended the camp. Shri K. Narayan-Managing Director, National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation and Shri Naresh Kumar, Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council were also present on the occasion.
Health Ministry signs MoU with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to facilitate access of AB–NHPM to the last mile
National Health Agency (NHA) under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the apex body for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM), and Common Service Centres (CSC) scheme under the Digital India Programme, have signed an MoU to provide information and eligibility validation services to beneficiaries, especially in remote areas. Shri J P Nadda, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Law and Justice & Information Technology presided over the MoU signing ceremony. As the benefits under AB-NHPM are based on entitlement and not on enrolment, over 3 lakh CSCs spread across the rural India can become the key point of information for potential beneficiaries and help in validating their entitlement.
Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla assumes Command of SNC
Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM, has taken over the reins of the Southern Naval Command (SNC) as its 28th Flag Officer Commanding- in-Chief on 31 Jul 18. The Admiral has replaced Vice Admiral AR Karve, PVSM, AVSM who retired after 38 years of yeoman service. VAdm AK Chawla was previously the Chief of Personnel at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence, Navy at Delhi.The Flag Officer, a native of Dehradun, had arrived in Kochi on 30 Jul 18.
Startup India Yatra begins in Chhattisgarh
The Startup India Yatra was launched on July 30th in Raipur. Students queued up in large numbers to register for the first boot camp at Raipur. Today, 31st July, the yatra will travel to Bilaspur for the second boot camp at the Government Engineering College in Bilaspur. The Startup India van will also travel to other cities of Chhattisgarh like Korba, Koria, Surguja, Jashpur, Raigarh, Balodabazar, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Dhamtari, Kanker, Kondagaon, Jagdalpur and Dantewada and hold boot camps in the Government Engineering colleges and Polytechnic Institutes.
Lok Sabha passes Insolvency Bill
The Lok Sabha on Tuesday gave its nod for the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill 2018 that seeks to replace the June 6 ordinance, which provided relief to home buyers and MSME sector.
The Bill got the approval of the Lower House after the principal opposition Congress demand of sending it to the Standing Committee on Finance was rejected.
Intas Pharma arm set to launch pegfilgrastim biosimilar in Europe

Zoho opens data centres in Mumbai, Chennai
Zoho, an operating system for business with a single-online platform capable of running an entire business on the cloud, has opened data centres in Mumbai and Chennai to be operational from August 15. Indian users, who have registered through Zoho.in, will now be served by these data centres.
State Bank of Mauritius to open six branches in India
State Bank of Mauritius, on Tuesday, announced its expansion plan for India with six new branches by next year, after becoming the first foreign bank to get a wholly-owned subsidiary (WOS) licence.
The lender, which received its WOS licence from the Reserve Bank of India, is expected to operate as a banking subsidiary of SBM Group in India under the name of SBM Bank (India) Ltd.

StarAgri Fin, Karur Vysya Bank tie-up for agri lending
StarAgri Finance, a subsidiary of StarAgri Warehousing and Collateral Management, and Karur Vysya Bank have entered into a strategic tie-up for co-lending against agriculture commodities stored in the StarAgri’s warehouses.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between StarAgri Finance and KVB for co-lending services in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. This partnership will help make institutional finance accessible to local commodity traders and farmers. Loans will be provided against their agriculture commodities stored in StarAgri’s scientifically planned and centrally managed warehouses.
UN E-Government Index: India ranked 96th Denmark tops the list
India jumped 22 places to 96th rank in the top 100 of the United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2018. Denmark, with an index value of 0.9150, topped the 2018 E-Government Development Survey. The E-Government survey is released by the United Nations in every two years. The 2018 edition was titled as ‘Gearing E-Government to Support Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies’. India, which was ranked 118 in 2014, jumped 11 places to be ranked 96 in 2018. The EGDI is a composite index based on the weighted average of three normalized indices: 1. Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII), 2. Human Capital Index (HCI), 3. Online Service Index (OSI). Mauritius’s SBM gets RBI approval for subsidiary
Mauritius-based SBM Group has received Reserve Bank of India approval to operate in the country through a wholly owned subsidiary — the first foreign lender to receive such a licence after local incorporation was introduced in 2013.
Rajasthan first State to implement biofuel policy
Rajasthan has become the first State in the country to implement the national policy on biofuels unveiled by the Centre in May this year. The desert State will lay emphasis on increasing production of oilseeds and establish a Centre for Excellence in Udaipur to promote research in the fields of alternative fuels and energy resources.
ICAR ranks YSR horticulture varsity best in country
Dr. Y.S.R. Horticulture University of Andhra Pradesh has been ranked the best horticulture university by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The ranking places the university above all the other horticultural universities in the country. While it was given the overall 11th rank, the University of Horticulture Sciences, Bagalkot, has been given the 20th rank. The Dr Yaswant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, has been given the 38th rank by the ICAR.
