The percentage of poor and needy people is high in several Indian states. They don’t have enough financial capability to purchase their own homes. The state government of Haryana has launched a housing scheme for such people, belonging to BPL categories. Under this scheme, flats were constructed and offered to these people at very affordable rates. The application procedure for 2018 – 2019 has already started. The main motive of this project is “Housing for all.”

Key features of the scheme

♦ Development of housing conditions – The primary objective of the Haryana government was to ensure an easy way for the poor and homeless people to get access to proper and hygienic residential units. It is aimed at improving housing condition within the state.

♦ Permanent flats to homeless – The residential flats, offered by the government will be permanent housing solutions for BPL and EWS candidates, who still live in temporary homes.

♦ Affordability is the key element – Actual cost of real estate is on the rise. It will be impossible for BPL and EWS applicants to purchase these flats on their own. The state authority will offer these flats at very low costs, thus making it easier for applicants to acquire these.

♦ Presence of subsidy benefit – The applicants will also stand chance to get a subsidy at 6.5%. The subsidy will be offered under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) scheme.

♦ Type of flats – These ready to move in and 3 storied flats will develop the overall housing condition of Haryana.

♦ Presence of loan facility – In case the applicants still fail to gather the necessary funds on their won, they can apply for housing credit from banks. Sarv Haryana Gramin Bank, IDBI Bank and State Bank of India are some of the financial institutions from where applicants can receive cash assistance.

♦ Total number of beneficiaries – This year, state government of Haryana has selected 21 locations for constructing these flats. After the completion of the project, as estimated 7533 homeless families will be able to move in their new permanent homes.

♦ Size of each flat – The triple storied buildings will be constructed on a plot that is around 60 square yards, and the size of each flat will be 300 square feet.

Eligibility for the scheme

♦  Residents of Haryana – Only legal residents of Haryana will be allowed to fill in application for receiving the affordable flats from the state government.

♦ One flat for one applicant – Each applicant will not be allowed to fill in more than one application form. It will ensure the government to reach out to as many needy people as possible.

♦ For BPL and EWS groups – Only people belonging to below poverty level (BPL) and economically weaker sections (EWS) will be able to apply for this flat scheme. Only those people will be selected under EWS categories, who do not earn more than 3 lakhs annually.

♦ For homeless applicants  These flats will be offered to those applicants who do not possess any permanent dwelling in this state or any other part of the nation
