‘Sutra Seva: MP Ki Apni Bus’ is an initiative of Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government. The bus service will be introduced in introduced in 20 selected cities of the state including Indore. The Madhya Pradesh’s Urban Development and Housing Department will make this economical bus service available inside and outside the cities under the centre’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme through private partnership.
In the first leg of the project- ‘Sutra Seva’, around 127 buses will start plying in four municipal corporation cities. The cities are-Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Chhindwara. The bus service will also operate in two municipal council towns Guna and Bhind.
Apart from this, the prime minister will also dedicate 23 development projects undertaken at a cost of Rs 278.26 crore in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain under the Smart City Mission. During the programme, Modi will also inaugurate drinking water schemes for 14 urban areas. These places are: Dharampuri Municipal Council (Dhar distric), Raisen Municipal Council, Begumganj, Obaidullaganj, Berasia (Bhopal), Athner (Betul), Badhvad (Ratlam), Dindori, Lakhnadon (Seoni), Narsinghpur, Sabalgarh, Bamor, Poursa (Morena) and Bamouri (Shahdol).
Key Features
- The new transport sewa scheme has been announced for being implemented within the state of Madhya Pradesh to connect the state capital city Bhopal with all remote areas and cities.
- As per the recommendations made the new bus service is expected to be implemented in over 20 selected cities within the state of Madhya Pradesh.
- The state government has also announced that the new scheme will offer transport services so that need for more government bus services can be fulfilled within the state as public transport system.
- The scheme will be run as joint venture between the Public transport system in accordance with the local state government and central government as a part of Amrut (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) Yojana.
- The responsibility for running the new transport system will be undertaken by Urban Development Department. The recommendations have been made for operating economical and luxury bus service that is reliable within the city limits.
- Under the new scheme the provision have been made for operating bus services within intra and inter city travel services.
- The state government has also announced that the new transport system will be more safe and secured for local people. Each of the buses run under the scheme will be equipped with advanced devices like PAS, PIS and GPS systems.
- To make the travel more secured for women commuters the buses will also be equipped with inbuilt camera and panic buttons. The security system will directly be connected with Central commanding centers for safety purpose.
- A part from this, the state government has also announced that the buses will be provided with Head Control Command center and Public Grievance System.
- The state government has also announced to provide with provision for booking tickets via official website and mobile phone devices for e-booking facility.
- To make the implementation process more effective the state government will hire over 700 buses via open tender system.
- As per statements made by state government it has selected over 4 municipalities within 16 municipal corporations to run over 127 buses in Devas, Gwalior, Ratlam, Bhopal, Morena, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Indore, Chhindwada, Rewa, Vidisha, Singrauli, Bhind, Khandwa, Katni, Satna, Guna and Shivpuri areas.
Developmental Projects launched by PM Narendra Modi in MP
On his one day visit to the state PM Narendra Modi has announced to launch and introduce a number of other developmental projects.
- Along with the Bus Sewa scheme PM has also announced to launch Mohanpura irrigation project within Rajgarh district. The project will be launched with a set budget of Rs 3866 crore to offer advantage to 727 villages in MP.
- Rs 4713.75 crore projects has been sanctioned by PM to be launched in Indore city. Under the Swachh Surveksha 2018 scheme, awards will be offered to National Cleanliness Survey winners in Chandigarh, Bhopal and Indore cities.
- Under PMAY project, over 1 lakh beneficiaries will be provided with affordable houses as a part of the Griha Pravesh Ceremony. PM will also sanction 23 projects under Smart City mission in Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Indore worth Rs 278.26 crores.
