ISRO–BHEL Tie up for the Production of Space Grade Lithium-Ion Cells
ISRO has entered into a Technology Transfer Agreement (TTA) with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), which is one of the country’s leading PSUs, to transfer the technology for the manufacture of space grade Li-Ion cells. The TTA was signed at ISRO Headquarters, Bengaluru yesterday in the presence of Dr. K. Sivan, Chairman, ISRO and Mr. Atul Sobti, Chairman & Managing Director, BHEL.
‘First Indian Sign Language Dictionary of 3000 Words’ Launched
“First Indian Sign Language Dictionary of 3000 words” was launched by Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment at a function here today. The dictionary has been developed byIndian Sign Language Research & Training Centre (ISLR&TC) under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), M/o Social Justice & Empowerment. Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Krishan Pal Gujar and Shri Ramdas Athwale and Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar were also present on the occasion.
Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir inaugurates first National Conference on Drug Law Enforcement
The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir today said that Narco-terrorism and its funding is a serious problem for the world, especially for India. Inaugurating the two-day first National Conference on Drug Law Enforcement here, he said the challenge for law enforcement agencies and the society is to prevent drug abuse among youth. The minister said, the problem of drug trafficking assumes importance for India as it lies in the “Golden Crescent” and “Golden Triangle” as a transit route for drug mafia. He said that India’s nodal drug law enforcement agency, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been sharing intelligence information with other agencies of the world in tackling drug trafficking.

Laying the Foundation Stone for Redevelopment and Upgradation of Okhla Bird Sanctuary to mark the International Day of Forest at NOIDA yesterday, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that upon completion of the ambitious project, the Bird Sanctuary will become a place worth visiting for the entire country. The Minister recalled the Prime Minister’s vision of delivering a New India by the year 2022 as a nation, in which there is dense forest, clean water and clean air.
Cabinet approves the largest government funded Health Program–Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission (NHPM)
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister ShriNarendraModi has approved the Centrally Sponsored National Health Protection Mission (NHPM) having central sector component under Ayushman Bharat, anchored in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Poised to be the largest public funded health insurance scheme in the world, the Union Health Minister further said that the beneficiaries can avail of the benefits in both public and empanelled private facilities. “All public hospitals in the States implementing Ayushman Bharat-NHPM, will be deemed empanelled for the scheme. As for private hospitals, they will be empanelled online based on defined criteria,” ShriNadda said.
Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, 2018 passed by Parliament
The Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, 2018 has been passed by parliament today.The bill ensures harmony amongst employees in the private sector and Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Organizations under Government who are not covered under CCS (Pension) Rules. These employees will be entitled to receive higher amount of gratuity at par with their counterparts in Government sector. The bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha today and the Lok Sabha on 15th March, 2018.
Equitas Bank ties up with CSK, launches Yellow Army Savings Account
Equitas Small Finance Bank has launched a new ‘Yellow Army Savings Account’ to increase its customer base through its association with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a franchise of the Indian Premium League (IPL).
The Chennai-based new entrant into the banking sector has joined the list of the companies that use IPL boom and their association with franchises to promote products.
The yellow army savings account will offer an interest rate of six per cent per annum for balance below Rs. 10 lakh and 6.5 per cent per annum for balance above Rs. 10 lakh. The average quarterly balance requirement will be Rs. 10,000 per account.
Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Fisdom team up for digital NPS
Bengaluru-based start-up Fisdom and Lakshmi Vilas Bank have entered into a partnership to enable investments in the National Pension Scheme (NPS) in a completely digital and paperless manner.
Fisdom provides the NPS digitally through its mobile app with which any registered user can invest in the NPS within a couple of minutes, according to a statement.
ICICI Prudential MF launches Bharat Consumption Fund
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund on Thursday launched ICICI Prudential Bharat Consumption Fund Series 1 (1,300 days), tracking the consumption theme.
According to a press release by the fund house, the close-ended equity scheme will close for subscription on April 5.
