Government to launch single solar power bid of One Lakh Megawatt
The government will bring single solar bid of 1 lakh MW, which would also include storage and solar equipment manufacturing components. The biggest (renewable energy) tender was floated in Spain. Indian Government also brought out single tender of 10,000 MW which would be opened in July.

England Women registered the highest-ever total in women’s T20I cricket history by scoring 250/3 against South Africa Women in a T20I tri-series match. England Women surpassed the previous highest total of 216/1 scored by New Zealand Women against South Africa Women earlier in the day. New Zealand Women had overtaken Australia Women, who had recorded 209/4 in March.

Algeria shuts down internet nationwide to prevent cheating during high school exams
Algeria shut down all internet connections nationwide for two hours in order to prevent students from cheating during two high school diploma exams. This comes after widespread cheating in 2016, where questions were leaked on social media before the start of the exam.

The tri-service joint Russia-India military exercise Indra-2018 will take place in an Indian military base in the second half of this year. Russia has been a long-standing defence partner of India.
Haryana has become the first state in India to give star ranking to its villages
A total of 1,120 villages of Haryana have achieved star ranking under ‘7-Star Gram Panchayat Rainbow Scheme’ launched in January 2018 by Chief Minister Manohar Lal. The star rating to the village panchayats under the scheme is given on the basis of seven parameters and for each parameter different colours of stars are awarded such as Pink star for outstanding performance in improving sex ratio. Green star for protection of environment, White star for cleanliness, Saffron star for crime-free villages. Sky colour star awarded to village that will have no drop out. Golden star for good governance. Silver star for participation in development of villages. Under the scheme the villages would be rewarded Rs 1 lakh for achieving each star.
Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu has received the book Vedvigyan Alok
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has received the book “Vedvigyan Alok” (Maharishi Aitareya Mahidas Praneet – Aitareya Brahmina ki Vaigyanik Vyakhya) authored by Acharya Agnivarat Naishthik. The book is divided into four broad volumes. The Book Vedvigyan Alok is the scriptural verse in Vedas’ prose.
Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian resigned from the finance ministry
Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian resigns and leaves from the finance ministry because of “pressing family commitments” and will shift base to the US. Subramanian took charge as the CEA on October 16, 2014 for a period of three years. In 2017, his term was extended for a year. He launched the Government’s online education platform “Swayam”, which became one of the most followed courses in India.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has become the richest man in the world with a net wealth of USD 141.9 billion, as per the Forbes World’s Billionaires list. Bill Gates, the principal founder of Microsoft Corporation, is the second-richest man in the world with USD 92.9 billion. Warren Buffet ranked third place with a total of wealth of USD 82.2 billion.
World is celebrating 4th International Yoga Day today
Today, 4th International Yoga Day is celebrated across the world. On December 11, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Day Yoga. 800 differently-abled persons from across the country attempted Guinness World Record in Ahmedabad for ‘Largest Silent Yoga Class’ on International Yoga Day 2018. The theme for Yoga Day 2018 is “Yoga for Peace.”
Indian American Atul Gawande appointed as CEO of New Amazon led Joint Health Care Firm
Eminent Indian-American surgeon, writer and public health innovator Atul Gawande has been named as the CEO of a new US employee health care company,started by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett and JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon. He will take over as the CEO of the company from July 9.

NITI Aayog has ranked Rajasthan at first place among states in water conversation as it registered a significant increase in the level of groundwater. This achievement is due to water conservation structures built under Chief Minister’s Jal Swawlamban Abhiyaan programme.
Trump signs order to stop his policy of separating families at border
President Trump signed an executive order that sought to end immigration policy that separated children from their parents at the U.S. border. In May, Sessions announced that the U.S. would take a stricter stance on illegal crossings at the Mexican border. From April 19 to May 31, some 1,995 children were separated from roughly as many adults at the U.S. border.
Sikkim govt appoints A.R. Rahman as its Brand Ambassador
Renowned music composer A.R. Rahman has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the Sikkim government. He was appointed at the onset of ‘The Red Panda Winter Carnival 2018’, which aimed at increasing the flow of tourists. Earlier in 2018, Sikkim government had made Mr. A.R. Rahman its Brand Ambassador of tourism and business.
