Asia’s First Thirteen ‘Blue Flag’ Beaches To Be Developed In India
Environment-friendly, clean and equipped with amenities of international standards for tourists, 13 Indian beaches will soon get the Blue Flag certification. These beaches of Odisha, Maharashtra and other coastal states will be the first in not just India, but in Asia, to get the Blue Flag certification. The Indian beaches are being developed by the Society for Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM), an environment ministry’s body working for the management of coastal areas.
Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa On 4-Day Visit To Brazil
Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa is on a four-day visit to Brazil. He is scheduled to visit various operational and training units as well as interact with senior officials of the Brazilian Air Force. The visit will give further impetus towards increasing defense co-operation and pave the way for greater interaction between the two countries.
India Successfully Test-Fires SFDR Propulsion Based Missile
Making a breakthrough in missile technology, India successfully carried out the flight test of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) propulsion based missile, according to the Defence Ministry. The technology demonstrator flight test was conducted from the Launch Centre-III of Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.
India Ranked 113th On Childhood Index
According to a Save the Children’s “End of Childhood Index 2018”, India ranks 113 among 175 countries with regards to where childhood is threatened as a result of poor health, malnutrition, exclusion from education, child labor, and child marriage. The child marriages in India have come down to 15.2% from 21.1% in 2017. India jumped three positions up from 116 last year with improvement in India’s overall score by 14 points from 754 to 768 on a scale of 1000. Singapore and Slovenia are placed at the top sharing the first place in the index and Niger figures at the end of the list at 175.
Nepal, Scotland Among 4 Teams Inducted In ICC ODI Rankings
The International Cricket Council (ICC) included Nepal, Netherlands, Scotland and the UAE in their ODI rankings list apart from the 12 existing countries. The Netherlands secured ODI status and a place in the 13-team ODI league by winning the ICC World Cricket League Championship last year, while Scotland, Nepal and the UAE earned ODI status by finishing as the three leading associates (along with the Dutch) in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018. Scotland ranked in 13th on 28 points – 10 points behind 12th ranked Ireland – while the UAE is another 10 points behind on 18 in 14th position. The table is headed by England, who will host next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup. India is ranked second, three points behind England.
