Olympic Champion David Rudisha to be Mumbai:
Reigning Olympic and World 800m Champion and World record holder, David Rudisha is International Event Ambassador for the 14th standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon to be held on January 15. He retained his Olympic 800m title with an imperious display at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in August with a run of 1:42:15 the fastest time in the world.
PM Narendra Modi announces Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY), as skill development program targeted at Indian youth seeking overseas employment. PKVY will provide training and certify Indians who are seeking overseas employment in selected sectors in line with International Standards.
New ginger species with medicinal properties discovered in Andaman:
Scientists from Botanical Survey of India have discovered a new species of Zingiber (commonly referred as ginger) from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The new species has been named as Zingiber Pseudo squarrosum and belonged to genus Zingiber. It is used by the local particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups of the Andamans for its medicinal values.

Govt makes Aadhaar mandatory for MGNREGA:
The Union Government has made mandatory for people living in rural areas need to have Aadhaar under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme that mandates 100 days work for a household annually. People registered under the scheme will be required to give proof of possession of Aadhaar or undergo the enrollment process till March 31, 20147.
