Election Commissioner Shri Sunil Arora Inaugurates a new Manufacturing Facility For EVM Production At Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore.

 The Election Commissioner Shri Sunil Arora today visited Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore. BEL has established state-of-the-art secure manufacturing facilities for manufacture of digital certified EVM/VVPATs as per the advise of Technical Experts Committee of ECI. Shri Sunil Arora also reviewed the status of Progress of production of EVMs and VVPATs.

A target of installing 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2022 has been set

The Government has set a target of installing 40 GW of grid connected rooftop solar capacity in the country including Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) by year 2022. As per the Delhi Solar Policy, 2016 notified by Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, target has been set for installation of 1 GW of solar power by year 2020 and 2 GW of solar power by year 2025 in Delhi.

NMCG Organises “Ganga Vriksharopan Abhiyan” in Five Ganga Basin States Intervention in Ganga a Major Components of Namami Gange Programme

National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is running  “Ganga VriksharopanAbhiyan” in five main stem Ganga basin states – Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The drive was launched on  the 9thof this month, and the week upto 15th July was observed as ‘ShubharambhSaptah’.  State Forest Departments of these states have been made the nodal agencies for the smooth and effective execution of the campaign. The participation from Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Ganga VicharManch (GVM), NGOs and educational institutions has been encouraging. The involvement of District Ganga Committees, of which District Magistrates are the Chairpersons, has given strength to the programme. Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) have been designated as the district level Nodal Officers and Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) at the State level for organizing the events.

India won a silver and two bronze in the Junior Asian Wrestling Championships

India won a silver and two bronze medals in the Junior Asian Wrestling Championships 2018. Divya Kakran won silver in the women’s 68 Kg. Reena in women’s 55 Kg and Karuna in women’s 76 kg won bronze medals. Divya Kakran, the only one in the competition who would also be on the flight to Jakarta for the Asian Games, lost 0-11 to Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan in the final. Sangeeta Phogat lost 5-10 to China’s Juanjuan Shi due to an injury.

WhatsApp Messenger limits forwarding messages to five users

Whatsapp Messenger decided to tackle the spread of fake news on its platform, instant messaging application and has limited the users can forward messages to only five people at a time. The Facebook-owned application believes that these changes will help keep WhatsApp the way it was designed to be a private messaging app. About Whatsapp It is a messaging app which was founded in 2009 by Brian Acton and Jan Koum. Recently in January 2018, WhatsApp launched WhatsApp Business for small business use.

Renowned Poet Gopal Das Neeraj Passed away

Hindi poet Gopal Das Neeraj passed away in New Delhi due to a prolonged illness. He was 94. His poetic works include Asawari, Lahar Pukare and Paran Geet. He was Born in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh and he created a name for his lyrics for films like Prem Pujari, Tere Mere Sapne, Chanda Aur Bijli and Sharmili. He won 3 Filmfare awards and penned some of the all-time hits like Likhe jo khat tujhe. He was conferred with Padma Shri in 1991 and Padma Bhushan in 2007.

Purandara Mantap in Hampi submerged

Due to the heavy discharge of water from Tungabhadra river, the Purandara Mantap, one of the monuments in the world heritage site Hampi have been submerged. Other monuments like Salu Mantap, Koti Linga, Vedic Mantap and Stone mantap where last rites are performed have also been submerged. The authorities have issued flood alerts to the people nearby to take precautionary measures.

Two Plus Two Dialogue Between India and USA to Be Held In New Delhi

US State Department announced that the inaugural ‘two-plus-two dialogue’ between India and the United States will be held in New Delhi in September 2018. Recently, the US had postponed the dialogue due to ‘unavoidable reasons’. The Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary James Mattis will travel to India for the dialogue with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Andhra Pradesh CM launched e Pragati core platform

Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu launched e-Pragati core platform, a forward-looking digital initiative, at Undavalli, Amaravati. It is aimed at connecting the citizen to 34 departments, 336 autonomous organisations and 745-plus services. The Andhra Pradesh State government intends to realise the vision of ‘Sunrise AP 2022’. The e-Pragati authority will achieve the goals of the project by supporting the seven development missions launched in the areas of e-Governance, Social Empowerment, Skill Development, Urban Development, Infrastructure, Industrial Development and the Services sector. This platform would create a coordination between citizens and the government to solve several issues.

US Open 2018 champions to get a cash award of 26 crores

USA Open 2018 men’s and women’s singles champions will get a reward $3.8 million (over ₹26 crore) each and the tournament’s total prize money will be $53 million (around ₹366 crore). In 2017, the men’s and women’s singles champion won $3.7 million apiece, with the competition’s full payout being a then-record $50.4 million. US Open prize money has increased 57% since 2013.
