IBPS has released 3562 vacancies for the recruitment of Probationary Officers this year and the link to apply online is also active. While registering online for the IBPS PO exam, you will have to provide a list of banks you want to work in post-selection in decreasing order of preference. This task of choosing preference troubles many candidates as they are not sure on what criteria should they choose/ prefer a bank or not? Keep on reading because here we will help you understand the process for Bank Preference for filling IBPS PO 2017 Online Form.
You must not take this task lightly as you must remember upon selection IBPS will allot you the bank on the basis of your merit and preference. Then you’ll be in that bank for a long period of time, you’ll be starting your career with this.

PARTICIPATING BANKS IN IBPS PO 2017 EXAM

Following are the PSBs participating in IBPS PO Recruitment as per the official notification. You’ll have make your preference list in the order of your choice from these Banks:

Allahabad Bank Bank of Maharashtra Dena Bank Oriental Bank of Commerce UCO Bank
Andhra Bank Canara Bank IDBI Bank Punjab National Bank Union Bank of India
Bank of Baroda Central Bank of India Indian Bank Punjab & Sind Bank United Bank of India
Bank of India Corporation Bank Indian Overseas Bank Syndicate Bank Vijaya Bank

If I’ll prefer banks that have not yet declared their vacancies (NR/Nill) then how will this effect my selection?

This questions might be bugging you as there are 20 participating banks out of which 4 have not declared their vacancies with the status NR and 6 banks have vacancy status Nill. But if you choose these banks as priority in your preference list this will have absolutely No Effect On Your Selection. Remember, as there are 20 participating organisations, all those who have not declared their vacancies yet might declare them on later stage of recruitment. So if you’ll select any bank out of these 20 as priority, then upon declaration of complete vacancies you’ll have good chance of getting the Bank of your choice.

Make your Preference Choice Based on Headquarters of the banks

The headquarters is the best criteria for choosing a bank. This is because whatever bank you chose, you will find more number of branches in the state where the headquarter is located. Now if we take the example of Bank of Baroda, it has more number of branches in Gujrat and the probability of getting the posting in Gujrat increases. Although BOB conducts its own recruitment through Manipal program but still you can fill BOB as your first preference.  Understand this, if a bank decided to recruit through IBPS recruitment it can declare vacancies later on. So you can chose accordingly and choose wisely.
So, in this article, we are providing a list of banks and their headquarters. You can take it as a regional preference that can be near your place. As an example, suppose you reside in UP and you get the posting in Gujrat, then its okay and if you by mistake chose a bank that has a reach in Southern India, then it can be harder for you to accommodate and same is the case for vice-versa. So it’s better to review once what you have in mind.Apart from preference, you should also keep in mind the work culture of a bank.
