ICGS Varuna: Reliance Naval launched training ship for Indian Coast Guard
Anil Ambani-led shipbuilder Reliance Naval and Engineering (RNEL) launched a 3,000-tonne training ship for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) named ‘ICGS Varuna’. The ship is a 105-meter long training vessel and is the largest ship ever built for the ICG and has a capacity to accommodate 242 personnel. It was built at a cost of Rs 220 crore and was launched at the shipyard of RNEL at the Pipavav Port in Amreli district of Gujarat.

India most outward migrants in 2017 according to ADB report
The number of international migrants was topped by India, followed by China and Bangladesh. One-third of international migrants were from Asia in 2017. India had the most outward migrants in 2017 (17 million), followed by China (10 million) and Bangladesh (7.5 million). The global stock of international migrants from Asia rose 3.9 percent from 83.6 million in 2015 to 86.9 million in 2017.
NSE got SEBI nod to launch copper large futures contract
National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) got regulatory approval from SEBI to launch copper large futures contract. The copper large futures contract will have a trading unit of 25 tonnes at par with international commodity markets. The European Union announced the selection of Department of European Studies (DES) of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) for the prestigious Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (CoE) Award. It became the only Centre of Excellence in European Studies in the country.

U.K. watchdog fines Facebook 500,000 over data breach
The Information Commissioner Office (ICO) found that between 2007 and 2014, Facebook processed the personal information of users unfairly by giving app developers access to their information without informed consent. The scandal took place after new EU data protection rules went into effect this year, the amount could have gone up to £17 million or 4% of global turnover whichever is higher.
Govt set up GoM headed by Home minister to look into sexual harassment at work place
The government constituted a group of ministers (GoM) headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to prevent and deal with sexual harassment of women in workplaces. The other members of the GoM are road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and women and child development minister Maneka Sanjay Gandhi. The group will examine and recommend further measures required to strengthen and make the existing provisions for the safety of women within three months.

Most of the international migrants in 2017 were from India, followed by China and Bangladesh, according to an Asian Development Bank (ADB) report titled ‘Asian Economic Integration Report 2018’. As per the report, as many as one-third of international migrants were from Asia in 2017.
Cell-sized robots can be used to detect diseases
MIT scientists have developed a method to mass produce robots no bigger than a cell that could be used to monitor conditions inside an oil or gas pipeline, or to search out disease while floating through the bloodstream. The key to making such tiny devices, which the team calls “syncells” (short for synthetic cells), in large quantities lies in controlling the natural fracturing process of atomically-thin, brittle materials. The process, called “autoperforation”, directs the fracture lines so that they produce minuscule pockets of a predictable size and shape.
India and Bangladesh etch pacts enhancing inland and waterways connectivity
India and Bangladesh signed several milestone agreements today, for enhancing inland and coastal waterways connectivity between the two countries for trade and cruise movements. The two sides also signed agreements to use Chattogram and Mongla Ports in Bangladesh for movement of goods to and from India.
