Shirui Lily Festival Concludes In Manipur

Manipur’s Shirui Lily Festival 2018 was concluded at Ukhrul district. The festival was spread over multiple venues. The festival was sponsored by the department of tourism, Manipur to spread awareness about conservation of the endangered Shirui Lily and promote the district of Ukhrul as a tourist destination in Manipur. The festival was also supported by NEC and aims to promote afforestation and sustainable tourism efforts in the state.

 

IndiGo Chief Aditya Ghosh Resigns

Aditya Ghosh resigned as the President and whole-time director of IndiGo and will leave the company by 31 July 2018. While Interglobe Chairman Rahul Bhatia appointed as the interim CEO of the company, Greg Taylor will be appointed as president and CEO of the company.

 

NHAI inks pact with Macquarie Group for TOT project

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) entered into a pact with Macquarie for road projects under the highway monetization drive. The Agreement has been signed with Macquarie for the first bundleof highway projects (USD 1.5 billion one of the highest FDI in highways).

 

DAC Approves Capital Acquisition Proposals Of Over Rs3,687 Crore

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by the Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, met today and accorded approval to Capital Acquisition Proposals of the Services valued at over Rs 3,687 crore.

In a boost to indigenisation and in realisation of India’s growing technological prowess, the DAC approved procurement of Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO’s) designed and developed NAG Missile System (NAMIS) at the cost of Rs 524 crore. The system includes a third generation Anti-Tank Guided Missile, the NAG, along with the Missile Carrier Vehicle (NAMICA). The NAG missile is a third generation anti-tank guided missile, which has top attack capabilities that can effectively engage and destroy all known enemy tanks during day and night. This will give a quantum boost to the Army’s capability against enemy armour.

nline search engine Google is the most trusted Internet brand in India, followed by Facebook, as per the TRA Brand Trust Report 2018. With 1.2 trillion searches per year, Google has become the first port of call for all things on the Internet. Google was followed by Facebook, Amazon and eBay. The biggest falls in trust were seen by Snapdeal, who fell by 142 ranks over last year. The top trust gainers this year were Netflix (up 506 ranks over last year). TRA’s Brand Trust Report 2018 report covers 2488 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India and generated 5 million data points.

CIA Chief Mike Pompeo Sworn In As New US Secretary Of State

Mike Pompeo was sworn in as the secretary of state, shortly after the Senate confirmed the former CIA director’s nomination as America’s top diplomat at a crucial time when the US is involved in several high stakes negotiations around the world. Supreme Court justice Samuel Alito administered the oath to Pompeo in the West Conference Room of the Supreme Court. He replaced Rex Tillerson.
